Frank Lee is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist and has been studying, performing and teaching banjo styles for over 35 years. He is a founding member of the critically aclaimed old-time stringband The Freighthjoppers. He has introduced old-time banjo to people world-wide and has a performance video available through Homepun Tapes. His recordings have been released on his own label and on Rounder Records. He has taught at The Augusta Heritage Center and the Swannanoa Gathering as well as various workshops across the country. Frank will instruct an advancing banjo workshop which is focused on the intermediate as well as the advanced player.
Frank teaches banjo playing techniques by teaching tunes that incorporate the techniques he shares in the session. His choice of content and format for the session will depend in part on the needs and interests of the participants. Frank will have written handout materials for students to take with them after the session, and strongly encourages participants to obtain and bring audio recorders (with fresh batteries). Frank intends that his students take away new tunes from the session and perform them solo.
