Ken Gehret

Kenny has masterfully performed for over 40 years on more than a dozen instruments, primarily guitar, violin and banjo. In addition to giving private lessons, Ken has also taught at The Lancaster Conservatory of Music, Franklin and Marshall College, various string camps, and has provided many string clinics across the country.  For many years, he's been a participant in “Music in the Schools” from elementary through

university level.

Ken has led various bands and ensembles and has been commissioned to: compose, arrange, write charts, create movie scores, sound bites, jingles, commercials and fully produce recordings for commercial and private enterprises which include the US Department of the Interior, Ebony Magazine, Ford Motor Company, HBO, Merv Griffin’s Resorts International, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, PBS, Rodale Press' Prevention Magazine.

Ken's performed with Roy Clark, Mel Tillis, Frankie Avalon, Jim & Jesse & the Virginia Boys,  Lefty Frizzell, Tony Trishka and many other globally recognized artists.  Though his talents warrant traveling in these circles, his ego remains modest and he gets great pleasure playing music with anyone who sincerely enjoys it.

For over 30 years he's been the driving force of Berks County's Early Bird Fiddle Festival.  He's participated in the Lyons Fiddle Festival since its inception more than two decades ago.  He is a regular at the Kutztown Folk Festival.  We are delighted that he is also a part of the Maidencreek Old Time Music Festival.
