John Updike

John Updike has been playing five string banjo since the late 60s. His beginning influences were Pete Seeger and Grandpa Jones but since then he's been playing three finger styles with picks and without, as well as several frailing styles. He was a founder and has been a banjo player with the band The Lost Ramblers ever since 1978. He also plays gourd banjo.
