Maddy Smith grew up playing classical violin and was lured into the world of folk music when she discovered Sacred Harp singing in college. Maddy holds a music education degree and spends her weekdays teaching elementary music at Plymouth Meeting Friends School.

 

Outside of the classroom, she helps host several old-time jams, teaches adult group fiddle classes with Philly Music Factory and performs with the femme folk outfit Cornflower Jam and fiddle-and-guitar duo Old Grey Bonnet.

 

Maddy is passionate about helping people harness their best fiddle sound and creating welcoming, accessible spaces where people of all ages can connect through traditional music.
